Mission
Fire Station The Sonoita-Elgin Fire District is a combination department comprised of about 54 volunteer, career and auxiliary personnel serving a 350 square mile district. We hold a CON or Certificate of Necessity to provide ambulance service that covers a 725 square miles of east Santa Cruz County.

We strive to accomplish our mission - to provide the members of our District with high-quality Fire, Rescue, Prevention and Emergency Medical Service - by recruiting and training dedicated volunteers as dispatchers, wildland firefighters, structural firefighters, emergency medical technicians – both basic and paramedic level, medical first responders and hazardous material first responders. Our volunteers handle operational, medical and fire duties, while others support operations through fundraising, mapping, building maintenance, and other functions. We are a diverse group, ranging in age from 17 to 86, with high school GEDs to PhDs. Join us!
